biography

Zuzanna Klemańska was born on June 20, 1991, in Łódź, Poland. She began her musical education as a violinist. In 2017, she graduated with honors from the vocal studies program at the Academy of Music in Łódź, named after G. and K. Bacewicz, under the guidance of Dorota Wójcik. In the academic years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017, she received the Rector’s Scholarship for the best students. She continued her vocal education in Italy at the Accademia D’Arte Lirica Osimo, where she was awarded a scholarship for being the best student of the institution. She has been refining her skills under the direction of William Matteuzzi.

She is a recipient of the Special Prize for the performance of a Polish song at the 9th International Vocal Competition "Golden Voices" in Warsaw, the Third Prize at the 2nd National Competition named after Krystyna Jamroz in Busko-Zdrój, the 3rd Prize at the 4th National Vocal Competition in Drezdenko, and a finalist of the Concours International de Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini 2022 in France.

In March 2016, she performed in the Polish premiere of Carl Maria von Weber's opera "Abu Hassan", directed by Hanna Chojnacka and conducted by Marcin Wolniewski, playing the lead role of Fatima. The opera was staged several times at the concert hall of the Academy of Music in Łódź. In the 2018/2019 season, she collaborated with the Baltic Opera, where she played Venus in Jacques Offenbach's "Orpheus in the Underworld", directed by Maria Sartova and conducted by Warcisław Kunc.

In 2021, she made her debut at Teatro delle Muse in Ancona as Nella in Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi", directed by Marco Baliani and conducted by Marco Guidarini. She has participated in numerous concerts and festivals in Poland and Italy. In June 2017, she performed at the Inaugural Gala of the International Music Festival named after Krystyna Jamroz with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Tadeusz Wojciechowski, alongside renowned Polish singers, including Joanna Woś, Aleksandra Zamojska, Adam Sobierajski, Grzegorz Szostak, and Szymon Mechliński.

In 2020/2021, she took part in a special concert series titled "Con Elio nella Vienna di Beethoven", performing works by Weber, Mozart, Beethoven, and Rossini under the musical direction of Alessandro Benigni. In the fall of 2021, she performed as a soloist in the project "L’ultima estate" – a one-act opera by Marcello Filotei dedicated to the victims of the earthquake in Italy, conducted by Gabriele Bonolis. This project was part of several events, including the Reate Festival.

In November 2021, she was invited to participate in the Festival dei Giovani Musicisti Europei, where she performed Beethoven and Rossini's repertoire for the Italian audience. In November 2022, she sang the solo alto part in Handel's "Messiah" at Kongsberg Church in Norway, conducted by Matthias Anger. In April 2023, she performed as a mezzo-soprano soloist in Rossini's "Stabat Mater", also at Kongsberg Church, under Matthias Anger's direction.

In August 2024, as part of the Chigiana International Festival 2024, she made her debut at Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena, Italy, as Mrs. Grose in Benjamin Britten’s "The Turn of the Screw", directed by Florentine Klepper and conducted by Kai Röhrig. In September of the same year, as a soloist, she performed at the International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music in Grudziądz at St. Nicholas Basilica, performing works by Poulenc, Matthias Anger, and Paweł Łukaszewski.

She has honed her skills by participating in masterclasses led by renowned figures such as Vincenzo De Vivo, William Matteuzzi, Enza Ferrari, Anna Vandi, and Ernesto Palacio. She is fluent in English and Italian.
