The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra continues its collaboration with musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, as it welcomes two more principals from its ranks: its Principal Horn, Stefan Dohr, and Wolfram Christ, long-time legendary Principal Viola of the Berlin Philharmonic, who is now a distinguished conductor.
Stefan Dohr is one of the world’s greatest French horn soloists, proclaimed by the New York Chronicle as the “king of his instrument”. He will perform Richard Strauss’ Horn concerto no. 1, one of the most demanding concertos for this instrument.
The concert will open with excerpts from Felix Mendelssohn’s breathtakingly beautiful incidental music to Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and will close with his Symphony no. 4, bursting forth with joie de vivre, energy and warmth, inspired by the composer’s visit in Italy.
