Marcus Bosch extends his music director contract at Opernfestspiele Heidenheim until 2030

Marcus Bosch and the city of Heidenheim have extended his contract as Artistic Director of the Heidenheim Opera Festival until 2030. Marcus Bosch, who has held the position since 2009, expressed his delight at the opportunity to continue his work and promote musical quality. He emphasised the importance of collaboration with renowned ensembles, such as the Cappella Aquileia, the Stuttgart Philharmonic and the Czech Philharmonic Choir in Brno. Heidenheim’s mayor Michael Salomo and cultural mayor Simone Maiwald praised Bosch for the successful development of the festival, which is reflected in doubled visitor numbers and international recognition. Simone Maiwald mentioned that the festival is increasingly reaching more people both in Germany and internationally.

The Heidenheim Opera Festival, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2024, has also developed further under Bosch’s leadership, through the founding of the Cappella Aquileia orchestra in 2011 and the engagement of important musical partners.

The Opernfestspiele Heidenheim, founded in 1964, has become one of the largest and most successful opera festivals. Since 2016, every year one early Verdi opera is presented which is recorded and released on CD/DVD. The festival takes place every summer and contains two opera productions, several concerts and open-air productions at the Hellenstein castle in Heidenheim.
