Gagik Vardanyan

February 25th – March 4th | Gagik Vardanyan in G. Verdi’s La Traviata at Opéra de Rennes

Our artist Gagik Vardanyan will embody the role of Baron Douphol in G. Verdi’s timeless opera La Traviata. Following its initial run at Angers Nantes Opéra in January, this compelling production will be restaged at the Opéra de Rennes from February 25th to March 4th.

Directed by Silvia Paoli, the production offers a fresh perspective on Violetta's tragic tale, emphasizing her battle against a ruthless society that forces her to sacrifice herself. The emotional depth of Verdi’s score is matched by Paoli’s meticulous direction, which, in collaboration with a stellar creative team, amplifies the heroine's struggle and humanity.

With captivating choreography by Emanuele Rosa, evocative sets by Lisetta Buccellato, and dramatic lighting design by Fiammetta Baldisseri, this production promises to transport audiences into the heart of 19th-century Paris.

Accompanying the performers, the National Orchestra of the Pays de la Loire, conducted by Laurent Campbellone, and the Angers Nantes Opera Choir, directed by Xavier Ribes, will bring Verdi’s rich and emotional score to life.
