December 5th | Flavio Emilio Scogna conducting Orchestra Sinfonica del Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in the evening “Manuel De Sica – A Life in Music”
The Sala Sinopoli at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome will host a tribute concert in memory of Manuel De Sica, marking the 10th anniversary of his passing. Known for his elegant compositions and internationally celebrated contributions to cinema music, Manuel De Sica's work earned him numerous accolades, including a Grammy nomination when he was just 21 years old.
The evening's program will feature the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, under the baton of conductor Flavio Emilio Scogna and will be introduced by critic Enrico Magrelli, opens with a suite of themes from films such as “Al Lupo al Lupo” by Carlo Verdone, “Tre” by Christian De Sica, and “Dellamorte Dellamore” by Michele Soavi. A highlight of the concert will be “A Place for Lovers”, composed for Vittorio De Sica's Amanti and originally performed by Ella Fitzgerald, now reinterpreted by Christian De Sica.
The second half begins with "Filmusic," featured in De Sica's album A Life in Music, and continues with “Una breve vacanza” from Vittorio De Sica's film of the same name. The evening concludes with the iconic suite from “Il giardino dei Finzi-Contini”.
