biography
The Alinde Quintet has emerged as one of the most exhilarating and innovative wind ensembles in classical music today. With a signature blend of virtuosity, expressive depth, and refined artistry, they have captivated audiences and critics alike, redefining the possibilities of the wind quintet repertoire. Their meteoric rise was cemented by their triumph at the 2024 ARD International Music Competition in Munich, where they secured First Prize - one of the most coveted accolades in the chamber music world.
What sets the Alinde Quintet apart is their seamless unity and extraordinary musical chemistry. Their interpretations balance technical brilliance with emotional nuance, offering performances that feel both meticulously crafted and effortlessly organic. Internationally acclaimed conductor Jakub Hrůša described them as “a group poised to become a leading force on the international stage… What truly elevates their artistry is the remarkable unity and harmony they achieve as an ensemble. It is rare to witness a group where the individual talents blend so seamlessly, with each musician serving the greater whole—an ethos that transcends personal ambition and nurtures a collective musical experience.”
The Alinde Quintet has performed at prestigious venues and festivals across Europe, including the Prague Spring International Music Festival, Newbury Spring Festival (UK), Chiltern Arts Festival (UK), and Lípa Musica International Music Festival (Czech Republic) – where in a particularly memorable collaboration, they joined forces with bass-baritone Adam Plachetka for what the press hailed as “a remarkable interpretation of Dvořák’s Biblical Songs.”
Their prize-winning performance at the ARD Competition was broadcast live from the Herkulessaal in Munich, further expanding their international presence. Critics praised their rendition of György Ligeti’s 10 Pieces for its bold expressivity, flawless execution, and masterful command of the composer’s intricate textures. Classic Plus music-magazine noted that “the Alinde Quintet masters the finest dynamic nuances, seamlessly exchanging leading voices with clarity and refinement. Their sound is airy, unforced, and full of musical vitality.”
In 2025, the Alinde Quintet will release their highly anticipated debut CD in collaboration with SWR Südwestrundfunk and Supraphon.
With upcoming engagements in Germany at the Schlosstheater Fulda concert series, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Internationale Festspiele Baden -Württemberg, Ingolstadt and Schwäbisch Gmünd; in Italy at the Lago Maggiore Music Festival; in the Czech Republic at the Prague Phil concert series, and in St. Gallen, Switzerland, as well as the UK, the ensemble continues to build an international reputation for its passion, precision, and dedication to expanding the wind quintet repertoire.
The Alinde Quintet is deeply committed to both tradition and innovation—championing new works, rediscovering forgotten gems, and reimagining classic repertoire. Their performances are marked by a rare combination of youthful energy and artistic maturity, making them one of the most exciting chamber ensembles on the global stage. As Opera Plus music magazine aptly stated, “A beautifully balanced ensemble, where no one overpowers, and every voice shines. Their youthful enthusiasm and natural artistry create an unforgettable musical experience.”
As they continue to tour and inspire audiences worldwide, the Alinde Quintet remains dedicated to elevating the wind quintet genre, forging meaningful artistic collaborations, and delivering performances that resonate with audiences.
