Wolfram Christ’s concert in Genoa reviewed by “Corriere dello Spettacolo”

A Spectacular Symphony Concert at Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa

On the evening of Thursday, November 21st, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa hosted a remarkable symphonic concert under the baton of the esteemed Wolfram Christ, legendary former principal violist of the immortal Berliner Philharmoniker.

The first half of the program featured the talented young pianist Giacomo Menegardi, winner of the “Premio Venezia,” who delivered an impeccable performance of Chopin's grand Piano Concerto No. 2. His artistry culminated in a sumptuous encore—a piece by Rachmaninoff that enchanted the audience.

The second half of the evening showcased Paul Hindemith’s ballet music, Nobilissima Visione, inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi. Hindemith drew inspiration for this work from Giotto’s frescoes in the Bardi Chapel of Santa Croce, Florence, which left a profound impression on the composer. The music weaves together a variety of influences with a distinctive archaic flavor, resulting in a complex yet evocative composition.

The Orchestra Sinfonica delivered a masterful performance of this challenging piece, demonstrating excellent cohesion across its sections and a profound connection with the conductor. The audience responded with thunderous ovations, celebrating the evening’s outstanding artistry.
